Abstract. Contemporary German youth slang plays an important role in the evolution of the German national language, its enrichment with expressive vocabulary. The article is devoted to characteristics of the names of persons as one of the most important fragments of the lexical system of jargon. The study is conducted in the lexicological aspect on the basis of dictionaries of the German spoken language and the German youth slang. The paper discusses the sources of replenishment of the youth vocabulary, the role of metaphorization and derivation in the creation of new jargon, and semantic properties of names of a person. Special attention is paid to the specificity of personal evaluation in the jargon of youth.
