NICKNAMES OF THE CHANCELLOR OF GERMANY ANGELA MERKEL IN THE LIGHT OF SEMANTIC MOTIVATION

Abstract. In the article the nicknames of Angela Merkel are studied. The author makes a semantic classification of the nicknames according to the motivational feature, gives an overview of the nicknames in diachrony, draws attention to the synonymous names of the head of the Federal Republic of Germany, and points out the internationalization of certain nicknames. It is concluded that the Chancellor has received the greatest number of nicknames for her political activity, which is typical for the representative of the sphere of politics. The topicality of studying the nicknames of outstanding politicians is emphasized.
