SEMANTIC AND STYLISTIC DYNAMICS IN THE FIGURATIVE MEANING OF THE WORD "NET" (BY THE MATERIAL OF THE RUSSIAN LITERARY TEXTS)

Abstract. By the material of classical and modern Russian literary texts the article analyzes semantic and stylistic changes occurred in the figurative meaning of the word "net/ nets" ("something that restricts the freedom") over the XVIII-XXI centuries. The author justifies the thesis that originally the word "nets" was used in the figurative meaning as Biblical word which determines its strongly negative connotation whereas the nets in the modern perception are not associated with Biblical context which presupposes the specificity of the modern contextual usage of this word and related stable word combinations.
