DEBATES ON THE REFORMATION OF SCHOOL EDUCATION SYSTEM IN THE USA IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE XIX CENTURY

Abstract. The article deals with the main approaches to the reformation of school education system in the USA in the late XIX century. The authors point out that "The Committee of 10" and "The Committee of 15" were established for the evaluation of secondary schools and preparation of recommendations concerning the school system reformation. The paper specially highlights the messages from the National Education Association, which emphasized the importance of the choice of subjects in the formation of the curriculum; carries out curriculum analysis.
