CHARACTERISTICS OF ENGLISH COMPOUND TERMS OF CRIMINAL LAW

Abstract. The article discusses the main characteristics of the English compound terms of criminal law. There are numerous term combinations consisting of two components-terms. The author describes the types of syntactic connection (subordination and coordination) between the components. As a result of the quantitative analysis the predominance of the structural model Аdjective+Noun is revealed. The semantic fields formed by the compound terms of criminal law are described. The presence of gender and aspect relations within the terminological system and the existence of synonymy and antonymy pairs are noted.
