AUTHOR’S TECHNIQUE TO IMPLEMENT THE MOTIVES "INNOCENCE" AND "PURITY" IN THE PLAY BY T. WILLIAMS "SUDDENLY, LAST SUMMER"

Abstract. The article provides comprehensive analysis of a wide range of stylistic devices used by the famous American dramatist T. Williams to implement the basic motives of American literature "innocence" and "purity" which are the key narration elements of his play "Suddenly, Last Summer". The researcher shows the coherent functioning of such stylistic techniques as metaphor, contrast, symbol in relation to the mentioned motives. The latter can be conditioned by author’s original language, urgency of the problems raised in the play and its allegorical nature.
