L. N. TOLSTOY AND HIS SPIRITUAL SEARCH IN THE EVALUATION OF THE RUSSIAN RELIGIOUS-PHILOSOPHICAL CRITICISM (I. A. ILYIN, S. N. BULGAKOV)

Abstract. The article deals with the point of view of two representatives of the Russian religious-philosophical thought of the first third of the twentieth century - I. A. Ilyin and S. N. Bulgakov - on L. Tolstoy’s spiritual heritage. It is found that, despite the differences in reasoning, in the nature of the emotional perception of the writer’s creativity, both authors reveal surprising similarities underlying the motives of their evaluation. The singularity of their position is seen in an effort to remove the halo of sacredness from the image of the Russian writer and in such a way to change the prevailing ideas about the role of "the literary genius" in the global worldview.
