APPELLATIVE VOCABULARY IN THE RUSSIAN TOPONYMIC NAMES OF THE IRKUTSK REGION

Abstract. The article for the first time examines the well-known and specifically local names of rural settlements and micro-territories of the Irkutsk region formed from the common nouns. The author considers the processes of semantic, grammatical onymization of words, word-combinations, analyzes onymization of appellative vocabulary with the simultaneous trans-onymization of anthroponyms. The paper provides data on productivity of the mentioned means for Irkutsk toponymy formation, and identifies the all-Slavonic and specific features typical for the names under analysis.
