PROSODIC MEANS OF EXPRESSING IRONY IN INTERROGATIVE STATEMENTS IN THE GERMAN LANGUAGE

Abstract. The article discusses the role of prosody in the formation of modal-emotional connotation of "irony" in interrogative statements in German. Temporal, dynamic and tonal components of the prosodic structure of statements operate in conjunction to create this connotation. The main cause of the change in prosodic structure is subjective, emotionally-expressive attitude of the speaker to the content of his statements.
