LITERARY JOURNEY OF ANTIQUITY AND THE MIDDLE AGES: CONVERGENCE OF TYPOLOGICAL PECULIARITIES

Abstract. The article analyzes literary journey as a set of motives and story-formative device in the epoch of antiquity and in the Middle Ages. Comparison of basic works in which the motive of journey, travel, wandering is used shows the certain convergence: two types of journeys which were popular in the ancient literature formed a kind of alloy in the medieval European literature.
