ON THE QUESTION OF INFORMATIVE-COGNITIVE FUNCTIONS OF THE TRANSLATION FOREWORD

Abstract. The article deals with the informative-cognitive essence of meta-translation by the example of such a genre as the translation foreword to a translated literary text. As a result of the analysis of the forewords to translations from different languages, the author comes to the conclusion that the semantic content of forewords is universal, regardless of the linguistic and cultural background of the translator, his/her individual features, which is explained by the need to create a symbolic value of the work as a way of integrating the text of translation into the receiving culture.
