POEMS FOR CHILDREN AND ABOUT CHILDREN IN THE KABARDINO-CIRCASSIAN LANGUAGE: ON THE QUESTION OF STUDYING LIUAN AFAUNOV’S CREATIVE HERITAGE

Abstract. Modern Kabardian literature and the problems of the formation of its genres are a little studied part of the history of Kabardian-Circassian literature. The talented Kabardian children’s poet Liuan Alievich Afaunov (1938-2012), whose name is widely known to the Adyghe world, left a bright and conspicuous trace in modern Kabardian children’s literature. However, his work was not subjected to a serious and thorough monographic study, due to the lack of an adequate translation. In the middle of the 80s some of his poems in translation were published in the pages of the magazine Murzilka. The paper discusses the language, the manner of the verse and the specific features of the poetic skill of the original author.
