ON THE PROBLEM OF A ZERO ARTICLE IN VERBAL-NOMINAL COMBINATIONS OF THE MODERN FRENCH LANGUAGE

Abstract. The article examines the cases of a zero article before the noun in verbal-nominal combinations of the modern French language. The author provides a survey of scientific literature on this issue. Special attention is paid to the combinations with nouns of non-abstract semantics which were not previously subjected to a systemic analysis. The paper proposes the stylistic perspective of scientific description: a zero article signifies figurative re-interpretation of a noun. This metaphorization mechanism raises the expressivity level of literary texts.
