Abstract. The article deals with the issues of formation and the main peculiarities of social journalism in Vietnam. The topicality is determined by the importance of the subject and the problems that are urgent for the Vietnamese society. A significant role in solving these problems is played by the Vietnamese media. In the realization of this subject there is specificity and already some experience that requires theoretical comprehension. So far, this field of research has not been studied by the specialists in the sphere of communication science. The author makes an attempt to broaden its scientific understanding, studying the specificity and the mechanism for realization of social problems by the Vietnamese press. The main goal of this article is to identify and characterize the socially-oriented media of Vietnam, the methods of their activity in this direction and the experience gained.
