COMBINATION OF FORMAL AND CONCEPTUAL FEATURES OF METAPHORICAL MODEL IN A. C. SWINBURNE’S INDIVIDUAL STYLE

Abstract. The article examines the possibility to apply correlation analysis to the set of conceptual and formal features describing a metaphorical model. Cole’s correlation coefficient is calculated on the basis of analyzing individual author’s metaphors used by the English poet A. C. Swinburne. The analysis allowed the author to identify and describe certain individual tendencies of poet’s style development associated with the peculiarities of concept-purpose and concept-source lexicalization, metaphorical expansion and the principles of using concrete stylistic devices as the mechanisms of metaphorization.
