Abstract. In the article the origins and formation of the fable genre in Adyghe (Adyghe, Kabardian, Circassian) literatures are considered. The aim of the work is to study this phenomenon, the features of its content and form by the example of the Adyghe poets P. Shekikhachev, B. Kagermazov, M. Paranuk, Kh. Ashinov. The results of the analysis of their works testify that this literary genre has always played an important role in the moral and spiritual life of the ethnos. The Adyghe fable sharpened general human problems, philosophically interpreted the spiritual world of its contemporary; was characterized by topicality, relevance, satirical sharpness. The author concludes that the socio-historical conditions of life at different stages of the literary process determined the poetics of the Adyghe fable.
