MEDICAL SLANG AS A COMPONENT OF THE LANGUAGE OF MEDICINE

Abstract. The article is devoted to the description of the lexical composition of the language of medicine. The leading role of terminology in professional communication is substantiated. The term "medical slang" is defined. The linguistic status of medical slang in the language of medicine, its role, functions and application features are considered. Much attention is paid to the ways in which medical slang units are formed. Linguistic and extralinguistic reasons for using slang in medical discourse are described.
