THE SPECIFICITY OF DANTE’S TRADITION REFRACTION IN J. N. VOZNESENSKAYA’S SHORT NOVEL-PARABLE "MY POSTHUMOUS ADVENTURES"

Abstract. The article deals with the reception of Dante’s tradition in portraying the afterlife world in the works of J. Voznesenskaya. It is ascertained that like the autohero in "The Divine Comedy", who makes the journey in the afterlife world and finds the highest wisdom, the heroine of Voznesenskaya’s short novel comes to God having cleansed her soul. In Voznesenskaya’s short novel the three-part afterlife world is like Dante’s Hell, Purgatory and Paradise; the heroine has guides similar to Virgil and Beatrice. Despite formal similarities, while remaining within the Orthodox paradigm, Voznesenskaya makes her heroine travel the opposite way - from Heaven to Hell; and the symbol of pure love is not a beloved person like Dante’s Beatrice, but God himself.
