SINGULARITY OF PREDICATIVE FEATURE IN THE TEXT OF "DESCRIPTION" TYPE

Abstract. The identification and verbalization of synchronously existing features of the object of the reality as one of the forms of thinking about the reality determine the logical basis of the "description" type text. Two well-known varieties of descriptive text - visual one and characteristic - are formed through different meanings of the predicative feature expressed by the verb. The use of the typology of verbal predicates developed by T. V. Bulygina shows that the quality predicates convey the meaning of timelessness, temporal unboundedness, permanence, which is typical of the description-characteristic. Predicates of events have the meaning of temporal localization, episodicity, which is the essence of the visual description. However, predicates-events can "rise" in the context of description and form a characteristic. Vice versa, the verbs with "non-topical" meaning can form the meaning of temporal localization in a stylistically reduced descriptive text. Thus, the semantic types of predicates have a wide range of functional possibilities in the text of the "description" type and the text itself performs the function of the operator of the semantic features of predicates.
