Abstract. The article deals with the texts of the German novel "Die Beste Aller Welten" by the Slovak-Swiss writer Irena Brezna and its Slovak translation "Na slepa??ch kr?dlach". The novel is characterized as transnational, belonging to several national literatures. Special attention is paid to enciphered toponyms in the German original and their correspondences in the Slovak translation. As a result of the analysis, it is concluded that such an approach is used by the author as one of the ways of removal from her own text. In addition, it is summarized that such a transnational novel in the original is perceived as a translated text, while the translation is read as an original work.
