PRECEDENT PHENOMENA IN V. M. PURISHKEVICH’S RHETORIC (BY THE MATERIALS OF THE STATE DUMA SESSIONS OF THE RUSSIAN EMPIRE OF THE II CONVOCATION)

Abstract. The article is devoted to studying public speech activity of the Russian nationalists of the beginning of the XX century. The author focuses on analyzing precedence in the public speech of the deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Empire V. M. Purishkevich. The paper identifies the sources of precedent phenomena to which the deputy applies, examines the ways to include them in the oral speech and discovers the functions of precedent phenomena. The researcher concludes that Purishkevich considers his appeal to precedent phenomena as an important rhetoric device. Moreover, this speech peculiarity influenced cardinally the formation of Purishkevich’s public image as a brilliant orator.
