Abstract. The article deals with the phenomenon of historical realia (historicisms) and their function in the archaized texts of the later novels of William Morris (1834-1896, the United Kingdom). The author substantiates the idea that Morris’s historicisms are not used as definite terms with a clearly fixed meaning, but participate in the general function of text poetization (the phenomenon of techniques convergence). The results of a certain stage in the study of this writer’s novel creativity are presented in the work.
