Abstract. The article deals with the problems of correlation between the semantics of a polysemantic original word and the semantics of its derivatives in the process of the word formation. The author also considers how and to what extent the polysemy of the original word is represented in its derivatives. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of various types of this semantic correlation, namely, the complete and partial correlation between the semantic structure of the original words and their derivatives within the family of words.
