NEW JOURNALISM: FROM THE ORIGINS TO THE PRESENT DAY

Abstract. The article deals with such a phenomenon in the American literature and journalism of the 1960-1970s as "new journalism", as well as its influence on the modern journalistic practice. The topical materials based on the synthesis of methods of journalism and prose fiction are studied, and the efficiency of this approach to the texts writing is proved. The author analyzes the works of American journalists L. Wright and R. B. Cramer in their connection with the tradition of the "new journalism" of the XX century for the first time.
