CATEGORIES OF PREDICTABILITY AND UNPREDICTABILITY IN THE ENGLISH CINEMA DISCOURSE (BY THE MATERIAL OF A. HITCHCOCK’S FILMS)

Abstract. The article discusses the history of the development of the notions of predictability and unpredictability in the natural sciences and humanities. By the material of A. Hitchcock’s films the author analyzes the narrative structures of the English cinema discourse in terms of the implementation of the categories of predictability and unpredictability. The author concludes that these categories contribute to the development of film narration.
