ON JOINING THE USAGE OF L. N. TOLSTOY’S LEXICAL AND PHRASEOLOGICAL INNOVATIONS (IN THE ASPECT OF THE ANSALYSIS OF LINGUISTIC PERSONALITY)

Abstract. The article classifies the ways of Leo Tolstoy’s innovations joining the usage on two grounds. According to the presence / absence of prototypes among Leo Tolstoy’s innovations there are two groups of units: 1) those which have prototypes, but hadn’t been commonly used before the writer; 2) those which do not have prototypes. According to the degree of the participation of the linguistic personality in the process of joining the usage there are three groups of units: 1) occasionalisms (words and idioms), their joining the usage was stimulated by L. Tolstoy himself, who used them not only in his works, but also in letters; 2) the units, the author of which was the writer, but they joined the usage without his participation in the above-mentioned sense; 3) the units, to the appearance of which in the language the writer didn’t have a direct relation, as they joined the usage as a result of the reaction of native speakers to his personality, activity, creativity.
