RELIGIOUS-MYTHOLOGICAL IDEAS ABOUT "EVIL SPIRITS" IN TRADITION OF THE TYUMEN TATARS

Abstract. The article deals with the religious-mythological ideas of the Tyumen Tatars about evil spirits in the light of the well-known character of the Muslim mythology "?ен" (genie) acting as a generalized figure for all the evil forces. During the research the author identifies correlation between Muslim and pre-religious components in popular ideas about "?ен" and analyzes the functional component of the character enriched in the traditional culture of the Siberian Tatars.
