DOCUMENT AS A BASIS OF LITERARY NARRATION IN VASILY GROSSMAN’S NOVEL "LIFE AND FATE" (BY THE MATERIALS OF "THE BLACK BOOK")

Abstract. The article is devoted to the identification of connection between V. S. Grossman’s novel "Life and Fate" and "The Black Book". The author proposes a genre definition of the latter - "collective evidence" - and proves that the documentary materials of the collection are the basis of literary narration about the Holocaust in the novel. In particular, the writer depicts the tragic images of the prisoners of the "special train of death" making its way to the extermination camp in "Life and Fate" relying on the real facts represented in "The Black Book".
