Abstract. The article is devoted to the study of functioning of the genitive case in the modern German language. The relevance of the paper is conditioned by interest in the research of functioning of the genitive case in the German language in order to identify changes in the grammatical system of the modern German language and by studying the process of the genitive case displacement by other case forms. The scientific novelty of the article is determined by the fact that it is the first attempt of the systemic study and analysis of the problem of the genitive case displacement in the secondary syntactic function by the forms of the dative case.
