Abstract. The article deals with the genre and stylistic peculiarities of the essay by the Ingush publicist Magomet Kotiev "The Soviet Power in the Terek. The Revolution and the Ingush people", which was published in the newspaper "Vol'nyi Gorets". The author makes an attempt by interpreting the artistic means used by the author in the essay to reveal the artistic originality of the essay and to identify how the evolution of the publicist’s views was reflected in the author’s manner of writing. The definition of the genre of the essay and its stylistic analysis contribute to a better understanding of the author's intention.
