Abstract. The article examines implicit and explicit references to music. The paper draws parallels between "The History of a Contraoctave" by B. Pasternak and "The Poem of Ecstasy" by A. Scriabin, describes dynamic techniques used by B. Pasternak, and considers the problem of polyphony as a system of personages’ interrelations. The researcher analyzes the meaning of names and the system of leitmotifs, by which B. Pasternak broadens the sphere of the text perception.
