Abstract. The article examines the literary function of the elements of folklore works in the historical novel by K. Osmonaliev "The Hatred of the Nomads". The extracts from the novel are presented, in which the elements of oral folk art are used. They play the role of literary means in the plotline of this novel. The functions of folklore elements are analyzed, by means of which both characters’ images and the idea of the novel on the whole are revealed.
