MANIFESTATION OF SOCIAL PRESTIGIOUSNESS OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE IN THE INTERNET DISCOURSE OF QUEBEC RESIDENTS

Abstract. The article is devoted to the manifestation of the social prestigiousness of the English language in the speech of the French-speaking residents of the Canadian province of Quebec. The authors suppose that this phenomenon may be expressed most clearly in the Internet discourse of Quebec residents due to inter-discursiveness inherent to it. Having analyzed the content of the account of Quebec French-language comic site ConneriesQc.com in the social network Facebook , the authors come to the conclusion that the manifestation of the social prestigiousness of the English language is reflected in the transformation of the Internet discourse of the Quebecers at morphological, lexical and syntactic levels, and also in frequent code blending and spelling Anglicization.
