MEANING-GENERATING POTENTIAL OF THE ICONIC ATTRACTOR IN THE STRUCTURE OF A POLYCODED LITERARY TEXT

Abstract. By the example of the text of the illustrated novel by Charles Dickens "The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club" the article analyzes the complementary-orienting function of the iconic part of a polycoded literary text. The important tools of the analysis are the verbal and visual categories of intertextuality and precedent. It is noted that the greatest meaning-generating potential is typical for the precedent visual phenomena, introduced by the artist taking into account the emotional-semantic dominant of the text.
