ON THE ISSUE OF SEMANTICS OF PHRASAL VERBS IN ENGLISH

Abstract. This article describes the phrasal verbs of the English language representing a verbal thought clich? of, most often, the spoken language as the most natural and diversified form of communication. The paper analyzes the specific system-semantic peculiarities of the organization of phrasal verb units. On the basis of the analysis of the number of the combinatorial possibilities of phrasal verbs, the effectiveness of their use in the process of communication the authors make conclusions about the semantic structure of phrasal verbs. The basic categorical features of these lexical units are identified and substantiated.
