Abstract. The article analyzes the manipulative aspects of communication typical during the Middle Ages, which were reflected in the pedagogy of those times, in order to understand the historical roots of pedagogical stimulation. The author, basing on the mental and psychological characteristics of the person of the Middle Ages, as well as on the manipulative lifestyle of the society of the Middle Ages in general, concludes about the inevitable penetration of the manipulative approach to the education of the younger generations into the pedagogy of that time.
