ADOLESCENT LINGUISTIC CONSCIOUSNESS AND INTERNET COMMUNICATIONS

Abstract. The objective of the research is the examination of Internet communication influence on the formation of the adolescent linguistic consciousness. Alterations in the verbal representation of adolescents’ consciousness connected with the introduction of on-line communication (chat rooms) are revealed during the course of the experiment. The authors defined global trends in the formation of adolescent linguistic consciousness influenced by Internet communications: negative attitude towards school, low literacy rate of adolescents, diffusion of on-line and traditional forms of communication. Associative behavior of boys reveals greater variety of responses whereas girls’ responses are more stereotypic.
