Abstract. This article describes the explicit macropositions organized in the macrostructures of the discourse, reflecting the thematic division of the composition unit (chapter) of a literary text. The material of the study is a literary text, including a sequence of explicit macropositions united in macrostructures that precede each chapter of the story by Jerome K. Jerome "Three Men in a Boat: To Say Nothing of the Dog".
