MUSICAL CRITICISM IN THE JOURNAL "MOSCOW TELEGRAPH": ARGUMENTS OF A ROMANTICIST ABOUT FINE ARTS

Abstract. The article examines the peculiarities of musical criticism in the journal "Moscow Telegraph" in the period of romanticism. The author focuses her attention on the change of discursive strategy of a critical article: narrow subject matter is accumulated with accompanying topics, which are being brought to the forefront. This way, arguments about a central romantic category of the beautiful are dominant in the article about a musical play. It testifies to the influence of the ideas of Western European romanticism on the consciousness of a Russian critic.
