Abstract. The article considers the problem of deixis (from the Greek deiktikos - direction), in particular, spatial deixis. Deixis is understood as a meaning and function of a linguistic unit expressed lexically and grammatically. The paper singles out and describes deictic adverbs of place of pronominal nature in the French and Buryat languages and analyzes the peculiarities of their meaning ??and functioning. The general meaning of the analyzed units is the localization of an object or event in a particular fragment of space. The article is comparative in nature, which enables to compare and find out the peculiarities of the meaningful volume of linguistic units in different languages.
