PHOTOGRAPHIC PORTRAIT IN F. M. DOSTOYEVSKY’S PROSE: ON THE SPECIFICITY OF HEROINES’ DESCRIPTION IN THE NOVELS "THE IDIOT" AND "THE ADOLESCENT"

Abstract. The article systematically discusses F. M. Dostoyevsky’s views as a critic, publicist and author of literary works at the phenomenon of the photographic image. The visual poetics of the writer, including the portraits of the heroines in his novels is studied for the first time in the light of modern research on the theory of photography (R. Barthes, A. Rouille). The question of the relationship of the photographic image with the ideas of death, suffering and memory is raised.
