SYNTACTIC RESEARCHES OF THE CHINESE GRAMMARIAN MA JIANZHONG

Abstract. The article describes the section of the first Chinese grammar Mashi Wentong devoted to the sentence and phrase. The author analyzes in detail the doctrine of sentence and case system. Differentiation of cases is associated with such peculiarities of Chinese language as the strict word order in the sentence and lack of morphological transformations among the Chinese words. The paper examines the correlation of universality and uniqueness of Ma Jianzhong’s views, draws parallels with the French universal grammar conceptions.
