PRIVATE DOCUMENT IN THE NOVEL "FOR A JUST CAUSE": ON THE RELATION BETWEEN THE NOTEBOOKS AND STALINGRAD DILOGY BY VASILY GROSSMAN

Abstract. The article discovers the meaning of the term "private document" relevant in relation to the notebooks by V. S. Grossman. The study aims to identify the nature of relation between the writer’s front diaries and the novel "For a Just Case". Relying on the comparative analysis of the two texts the author reveals the artistic functions which the private documents from Vasily Grossman’s notebooks perform in the first part of the writer’s Stalingrad dilogy.
