PRACTICE OF IDENTIFYING THE GENERAL MEANING OF THE ENGLISH -ING FORMS

Abstract. The article describes methods to use the cognitive approach while teaching English at a non-linguistic higher education establishment by the example of identifying the general meaning of -ing forms. According to the author, these methods eliminating a number of the shortcomings of the traditional approach allow solving the problem of the non-correlation of the Russian and English verbal and cogitative schemes, broadening linguistic consciousness, making the process of a foreign language mastering creative and productive.
