Abstract. The article provides a review of the basic approaches to the problem of translation quality evaluation among the foreign and domestic researchers. The author examines the quantitative and non-quantitative models to evaluate the translation quality and their practical application. The paper tries to apply the existing models to the publicistic, in particular, newspaper texts. Relying on the findings the author proposes to introduce the three-level system allowing evaluating translation both at the lexico-semantic and communicative and pragmatic levels.
