SEMANTICS AND FUNCTIONS OF THE MOTIVE OF BLIZZARD IN BORIS PASTERNAK’S NOVEL "DOCTOR ZHIVAGO"

Abstract. The article deals with the semantics and functions of the motive of blizzard in Boris Pasternak’s novel "Doctor Zhivago" as a stable formal and informative component of the work and one of the universals of the Russian literature. The pretexts of the motive and the invariants of the related plots are identified. The authors reveal the determinative role of the motive of blizzard in the transformation of the fully developed in the novel concrete historical situation of the destruction of the traditional way of life in the transcendental catastrophe.
