Abstract. The article examines the problem of the formation of foreign language communicative competences in the business context among the students of an institute of higher education. The experience of teaching students to written and oral business communication in the framework of preparation to get an international qualification of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry "English for Business and Commerce" in the franchising centre of Volgograd State University is described.
