COLOR PALETTE AS THE REFLECTION OF MENTALITY AND WORLD PERCEPTION OF THE RUSSIANS AND THE FRENCH

Abstract. The article reveals the content of the notion "color palette", the study of which attracts attention of the larger number of researchers in the field of linguistics and linguo-culturology with the aim of a more profound and all-round analysis of color denominations and symbolics of colors in various languages and cultures. The author pays special attention to the main linguistic features of color palette and its representation in the Russian and French worldviews, emphasizes basic colors in the mentioned languages and investigates their symbolism and peculiarities of usage as indicators of mentality and world perception of the Russians and the French.
