THE COGNITIVE APPROACH TO THE STUDY OF THE CATEGORY OF DEVELOPMENT IN ENGLISH

Abstract. The article discusses the existing approaches to the study of the category of development in the English language. The authors show the substantiation of the use of a cognitive approach in the study of the category of development. The paper highlights the key role of the perception of the temporal characteristic of the concept of a particular action or state in the speaker’s choice of continuous or non-continuous form.
