MEANS OF EXPRESING THE CATEGORY OF AMOUNT FROM THE POSITION OF ACCURATE/INACCURATE ASSESSMENT OF REALITY (BY THE MATERIAL OF RUSSIAN AND ENGLISH)

Abstract. This article reveals the content of the notion "the category of amount" and proposes a method of the classification of linguistic units actualizing this category in the texts in the Russian and English languages. Language category of amount is the representation of the mental category of amount, which is the assessment of the world from the positions of "accuracy and inaccuracy". This principle forms the basis of this classification, which divides all the means expressing the category of amount into the accurate assessment with the help of means expressing a certain or approximate amount and inaccurate assessment with the help of means expressing an indefinite quantity.
